Thanks for Celebrating Our Golden Anniversary

Imagine a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman can live to her full potential. This is the vision of Zonta International.  Zonta International improves women’s lives by increasing their access to education, health care, legal services and economic opportunities while supporting efforts to prevent and end violence against women and girls. The Zonta Club of Victoria is one of hundreds of clubs, operating in more than 60 countries, working together to empower women through both local and global initiatives.

On November 10, 125 people gathered to mark Zonta Victoria's 50th anniversary and Zonta International's 99th.

A portion of the ticket sales went to the Victoria Foundation to be invested into the Zonta Club of Victoria Fund- which currently generates grant money to support Zonta's local causes. The Zonta Club of Victoria is partnering with HerWay Home, who will be the recipient of this grant for the next few  years beginning in the spring of 2019. Together we will support and empower local women and girls.

HerWay Home is a non-judgmental health and social resource for pregnant women and mothers with young children or babies, who have a history with substance use and who may be affected by mental health issues, violence, and trauma. Since it opened its doors five years ago in Victoria, HerWay Home has helped transform the lives of more than 200 women and their children.  Watch the video, "Letter from Jane" to see how HerWay Home helps these women.

Over $7000 were raised through our silent auction to support Zonta's many scholarships and international causes, such as the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship, the Young Women in Public Affairs Scholarship, Amelia Earhart fellowships, education initiatives for girls in developing countries and a program to end child marriages.
